Academic Orientation

Hi everyone! It’s been 3 weeks since the General Orientation finished 🙂 Now i’m going to share some of my experiences during the Academic Orientation (AO)

Academic Orientation is the 2nd phase of the FEP Program which I’ve explained previously on GO section. It is mainly about how we, the buddy, were prepared to face the real university life. The first AO session starts on 7th September 2015 . My class, the LD01 was divided into 2 different room, on 1305 and 1307. I’ve checked my binusmaya 2 days before the class and the schedule showed that i had to attend the 1307 class, but it turned out that the administrator updated the schedule a day before, and i was supposed to be at 1305 class. Hence, me and some of my friends ended up on the wrong class. 🙁

Fortunately, the materials were same for each classes, so the lecturer, Mr. Fransisco told me that i didn’t have to move for this session, but i had to attend the class based on the schedule for the next session. The session was a lot of fun. Mr. Fransisco taught me about algorithm basics clearly so that i could understood most of the lesson. I met him only once, due to attending the wrong class. The rest of my computer science courses class were taught by Ms. Jeklin.

Beside of Computer Science course, we also got Support Center for Your Success class, which introduced us about the SADC (Student Advisory and Development Center), one of the administration establishment on Binus. Other than that, we also had Curriculum session which mainly explaining about the whole SoCS (School of Computer Science) structure on Binus.

The AO took place on 7th September and ended on 17th September. On the last day of AO, we were given a small official test (which i’d like to consider it more like a quiz) which consist of 2 parts, Programming, and Idea Competition. The programming test consisted of 5 algorithm cases which personally i think is pretty much complicated, but thank God, i could solve all of them 5 minutes before the time up and be the 3rd person to finish the test. The lecturer give me a small reward for that 😀 (it’s a can of pulpy orange ;p). As for the Idea Competition, there were some topics that i could choose to design, but i ended up choosing Trading Site topic because the UI was quite familiar especially web surfing experiences nowadays.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for another post 😀
